My Journey
In January of 2013, I weighed 248 pounds. My body was tired and I was tired.... I had been through 2 miscarriages and a still birth within a two year period. I was depressed, miserable, angry, and had no hope of ever being healthy or feeling normal again.
I tried "working out" - treadmill, bike, elliptical - and hated all of it! After a morning of listening to my fussing about going to the gym, my husband said "You like to dance, why don't you try Zumba?" The first time I tried it, I made it through the class, but could not walk for 2 days! I was so out of shape! That day, something clicked. I decided I would not give up on my body nor would I give in to the inevitable health issues I knew were coming. Since then, I have been attending Zumba classes at my local gym with the most wonderful, inspiring, instructors and participants! It has been life-changing! I have lost 65 pounds so far, have gone from a size 18-20 to a size 12, I have so much more energy, and have met a group of friends who are absolutely awesome! Now, I am certified to teach Red Hot Dance Fitness, Dance2Fit, Zumba, Pound, Pilates, Yoga, Red Hot Barre Fitness, and am certified in Nutritition for Weight Loss and I love every minute of it!
